How to add extra members on Netflix

It used to be the case that Netflix subscribers could loan out their account to friends and family in different households without consequence, but that’s no longer the case.

In the past few years, Netflix has been cracking down on password sharing. It’s no longer possible for someone to consistently use a Netflix account outside of the main registered address. If Netflix thinks that someone may be using an account outside of the primary address, it will ask the user to enter a one-time passcode that will be sent to the account holder’s email address or phone number.

This will likely frustrate many people who share Netflix accounts across households. Fortunately, Netflix does offer one alternative option, allowing you to add extra members to your account – but it comes at a cost.

Adding an extra member to your Netflix plan will set you back an extra £4.99/$7.99/€5.99 per month. The cost of an extra member will be charged to the existing account, not to the new user you’re adding.

Setting up the extra members for Netflix will use the same plan as the primary account, and so could be a cost-effective option for those who subscribe to the Premium tier. Standard members can add one extra member, while Premium members can add up to two extra members.

So if you’re sold on the idea of adding extra members to your Netflix account, keep on reading for the step-by-step guide, including pictures to help you through the process.
