Amazon Prime Day 2023: All you need to know for Amazon’s big sale

Amazon Prime Day is now just one day away and we’re here to tell you how to make the most out of it.

While Black Friday brings about some impressive discounts on the latest tech, when it comes to all things Amazon and what the company has stored within its many warehouses, Amazon Prime Day is where it’s at.

The annual sale is designed to give Amazon Prime subscribers the opportunity to save big on any items they may have their eye on, and usually with the type of discounts that would make Black Friday blush.

From our experience, while Black Friday is the better bet when it comes to shopping from multiple retailers (particularly for Christmas shopping), Prime Day is arguably even better if you’re happy to shop solely via Amazon. This is because the online retailer tends to save its best deals for Prime Day so as to give it more weight against November’s Black Friday sale.

It’s worth noting that Prime Day does have a barrier to entry; you must have an active Prime membership to access all of the exclusive deals. This won’t come as a surprise to any long-time shoppers, but thankfully, Amazon is currently offering a 30-day free trial to any new members, or those who haven’t had an active membership in the last 12 months.

With all that in mind, let’s dive into the key bits of information that you’ll need to know if you want to make the most out of Prime Day 2023.

When does Prime Day 2023 begin?

Prime Day 2023 will kick off on July 11 at 12:01am UK time. The deals will run for 48 hours with new offers constantly dropping until the event officially wraps up at 11:59pm on July 12. This will include regular deals and more time-sensitive Lightning offers, so make sure you check back regularly if you’re hoping to catch a specific item on sale.

Since Prime Day is now less than 12 hours away, you will want to make sure that you have already signed up for a Prime membership if you do want to get in on the action. You may even be eligible for the free 30-day trial if you’re not a member, or haven’t had an active account in the last 12 months.

How to sign up for Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime memberships cost $14.99/£8.99 a month or $139/£95 a year. You can sign up here. New customers get a 30-day free trial.

If you’re not an Amazon Prime member right now, you only have a couple of hours to sign up for a free trial, or to restart your membership before the deals start kicking in. Amazon is offering a free month to eligible customers with all of the associated benefits of free one-day delivery and access to loads of digital services right now.

Plus, since Prime Day only runs for two consecutive days, you’re able to cancel your free trial before the end of the month after you’ve already snatched up some heavily discounted tech. This way, you don’t have to spend a penny on your membership, while still taking advantage of all those juicy discounts.

What to look for on Prime Day

If past Prime Days are anything to go by, there will be a lot of different tech on sale, both from Amazon itself and from other brands. We already have some predictions for what high-end products we think will go on sale, but there are plenty of other items that could see some big price drops.

Other than that, we recommend looking for expensive products that rarely get a discount throughout the year. The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch are all big contenders – although it’s worth noting that console bundles are more likely to get discounted – as well as headphones like the Sony 1000-XM5 and Apple AirPods Max.

Home appliances are also very likely to get some great offers, with air fryers and vacuum cleaners from brands like Ninja and Shark regularly seeing heavy discounts.

And of course, we can expect that Amazon’s own products will become a lot more affordable. If you’ve had your eye on an Echo Dot, Kindle or Fire Tablet, then Prime Day will be the perfect time to snatch one up without breaking the bank.

If you want to keep track of everything that goes on sale over the next two days, make sure you come back to Trusted Reviews. Not only will we be reporting on any noteworthy individual offers, but we will be running a live blog and multiple roundups so you can find the best deals without needing to lift a finger.
