iPhone 5S Stock Shortages: S4 rival already sold out at Apple stores

iPhone 5S stock shortages have seen the new flagship phone sell out across Apple’s flagship London stores just hours after launch, leaving many consumers disappointed.

With today’s iPhone 5S release date having been plagued by low stock numbers, the iPhone 5 follow-on is already out of stock at Apple stores. Further hindering the phone’s UK arrival, a number of third-party retailers and networks have not been able to offer in-store stock.

Due to the popularity of iPhone 5S, we’ve sold out today,” a sign erected in the window of the Apple store has stated. Although iPhone 5S stock shortages have seen the phone sell out, the iPhone 5C is still available in a range of colours and storage capacities.

Despite Apple having confirmed that the iPhone 5S would launch today, it appears that the company had kept hidden how few phones it would have to sell. Having not offered iPhone 5S pre-orders, the Cupertino based company this morning revealed that day one purchases through the online Apple store will not be shipped until October.

Offering an early sign of things to come, O2 yesterday took to Twitter to confirm it would not be able to offer the iPhone 5S from launch due to stock constraints.

“Nearly #O2iPhone Friday! Get 5c instore & order 5s online & on phone. No 5s in stores but they’ll order for you and say when it’s in,” an O2 spokesperson stated via the company’s official Twitter feed.

The iPhone 5S was formally unveiled last week running a new 64-bit A7 processor alongside a revised 8-megapixel camera, iOS 7 operating system and a new Touch ID fingerprint scanner incorporated within the home button.

Available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage capacities, iPhone 5S prices kick off at £549. The handset comes in a trio of colour schemes, silver, grey and gold.
