Moto Z3 Play could arrive at June 6 event

The Moto Z3 Play handset could be imminent, with news the company is planning a launch event for June 6.

A ‘save the date’ invite sent to the media this week shows an image of an unknown smartphone. While we can’t be certain it’ll herald the arrival of the Z3 Play, its predecessor arrived at around the same time last year.

Considering the G6 and E5 smartphones have already been announced, it’s highly likely the Z3 Play will take centre stage during the event in Brazil (via GSMArena).

Recent leaks have revealed the Z3 Play will use the Snapdragon 636 processor and 4GB of RAM and 3,000mAh non-removable battery to power the 6-inch 18:9 display.

It’ll have a dual-camera with 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors, accompanied by a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Of course, the phone will have the same Moto Mods connection pins associated with the Z-Series handsets.

Renders that surfaced back in March revealed the fingerprint sensor has been shifted to the side of the device. Unfortunately, there’s no room for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Z2 Play offered great value for money for its £379 asking price. We awarded the handset an 8/10 score in our review and praised the fantastic battery life and slick software.

Mobile Editor Max Parker writes: “The Moto Z2 Play offers great value for money, and has enough going for it that I’d be happy to recommend it to anyone who values battery life and a clean software experience.”
