The Witcher 3 now looks even better on Nintendo Switch thanks to a recent update

CD Projekt Red has released a new update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch which improves the game’s visuals while also adding a few additional graphical options.

Launching in the latter months of 2019, Geralt’s swansong proved to be an absolute marvel on Nintendo Switch, and it’s still hard to believe such an epic adventure is capable of fitting on such a small device.

Turns out it’s more than possible, although some valid criticism was thrown at the port’s performance and graphical prowess when docked, with handheld play doing an excellent job of hiding some of the bigger blemishes.

The Polish studio is keenly aware of this, and has been working away on a new update set to improve things, and it’s now available to download for owners of the fantasy RPG.

According to eagle-eyed users on Reddit, the update adds an abundance of new visual options including bloom, depth of field, chromatic aberration and improved anti-aliasing. Many of these features are present on the other console versions, but were cut back before it came to Switch.

It’s fascinating to see a console release contain fairly comprehensive graphical options that players can customise on a whim, although we imagine this is because The Witcher 3’s performance is quite fussy, especially on a platform like the Switch.

In addition to visual improvements, this patch also introduces cross-save functionality for The Witcher 3, meaning it will be possible to import your saved data from clients such as Steam and GOG. If you don’t fancy starting your experience from scratch on a new platform, this sounds like an excellent feature.
